The Only Bait in Town

By virtue of not straying more than five feet from the television, I've made it two days into Shark Week without hammering out a lengthy hagiography on the majestic critters. I'll tear my eyes away from the screen for a minute to drop a few lines about the Discovery Channel's choice of marketing, which this year manages to be absolutely petrifying without showing a single great white. I dare you to sit through the above video, alone, in a darkened room. The "Bight University" TV spots I've seen are even better. At the end of one "campus video", a gaggle of students flash toothy grins and upped thumbs at the camera--except for one poor sucker in the middle, who proudly raises a bandaged stump.
