Worlds collide, y'all.
I almost never run across anyone from OR or UT on Deadspin/EDSBS/anywhere in the sporting internets (which, given the foobaw bents of both schools, is a little bizarre), with the exception of fellow '05 Vawl GoldfishCowboy. Imagine my delighted glee, then, when we started playing Hey Remember _______ and discovered that we were NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS my last year in Knoxville. *mysterious sitar track swells in the background* I mean, there's every chance he gave me a hand up onto the brick wall next to the pool that separated our residences during one of the myriad drunken swim parties, and now here we are lighting the internets on fire. Spookay!
Yo, Holly/Nastinchka/Miss Manticore/etc! Guess you didn't know...I too, am a fellow "Vawl" alum ('03) still residing in the OR/Knox area.
While I've attended multiple drunken pool orgies, err, parties back in the day, I can't recall any with a brick wall for scaling. Doesn't mean we haven't crossed paths at some time though.
Anyway, I love your work and your awesome commenting at the various sites...keep it up!
Peace.

No way! Now I think I remember you saying something about it on an EDSBS board...which is probably why I don't remember it. (*hic*)
The pool was on Forest, with this handy-dandy brick wall you could jump off, into what was probably the most unhealthily chlorinated swimming pool in the Fort. Which was really saying something.
Posted by: Holly at July 11, 2007 01:59 PMI'm actually a Vandy grad, too! Ok, no I'm not...I just like to be part of the "in" crowd. I feel so alone sometimes...

Posted by: Holly at July 11, 2007 04:04 PMAwww...thanks, Holly. You are one of the wittiest people I've never met. And there are a LOT of witty people that I've never met, so that's saying something! I feel good enough to maybe even get some work done now. But not really.
Posted by: RCR at July 12, 2007 07:25 AMThey have since put up a see-through 8' wrought iron fence in place of the perfectly-private-for-jumping-off-shit-and-smoking-weed wooden fence that was there in '05.
fuckers...
but yeah, what an incredible discovery.. and i loved the "T" stop right on the corner. very convenient for saving the 1 mile hike to hungover class attendance.
Posted by: TheGoldfishCowboy at July 16, 2007 09:55 AMNooOOoooo! The perfectly-private-for-jumping-off-shit-ness was the best part of that pool.
