Not the intriguingest of days. A marked lack of nationally televised SEC games. We're on a bye week, and three of the games I'm most concerned about are running at the same time on ABC. Whither, GamePlan?
Cheering interests in bold:
I'm glad you're reveling in our misery. We're missing a few pieces but this will make the next few years that much sweeter. Clausen is developing quite nicely.
While we can't both root for the Irish, I think we can find common ground in celebrating the return of The Brotherhood tomorrow!!!! And I have you to thank for telling me about the show. That's definitely worth a few Weinstein movies. If you haven't seen 1408 I definitely recommend it. And Black Sheep is hilarious!
Posted by: Irish Duffy 98 at September 29, 2007 10:11 AMIf it makes you feel any better, my hatred of ND is years old and nigh insurmountable.
I dunno about 1408. Without going into gory details, there's one part of the original story that scared the hell out of me, genuinely unsettled me in a bad way. Not sure I'm ready to see it on the screen just yet.
And I cannot WAIT for Brotherhood tomorrow. As I'm sure all of you cannot wait for me to start cranking out more 1,000-word screeds about how OMG BEST SHOW EVAR LOLZ!!
Fair enough. I'm sure you'll be secretly rooting for Harrison, though.
Check out Black Sheep, though. Reminiscent of the flying killer rabbit in The Holy Grail, if you're a Python fan.
Posted by: Irish Duffy 98 at September 29, 2007 11:54 AMIf it sounds intriguing I'll shoot you a copy.
Posted by: Irish Duffy 98 at September 29, 2007 11:58 AMOh, we root for Harrison openly. He played ball with Livia's little brother in high school, so we're fans. (Attn: Honey, come home. All is forgiven. Seriously, we'll send you a ticket.)
Posted by: Holly at September 29, 2007 12:00 PMDon't even think about it! We need him bad. The MSU- SC game is pretty interesting!
Posted by: Irish Duffy 98 at September 29, 2007 12:04 PMI don't know how much more of this wackass upsettery I can take. Miss. State? Ole Miss?
Posted by: Stella at September 29, 2007 12:11 PM...and Northwestern, and North Carolina, and Illinois...to say nothing of South Florida. *
*No, seriously, say nothing of South Florida I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT LAST NIGHT.
see my dad and i have it all figured out. Auburn beats florida. LSU beats florida. Tennessee wins all the rest of their games and takes the SEC East and then chokes spectacularly to LSU (who goes on to win the National Championships) in the SEC championship.
this is in the same dream world where utah beats BYU and wins the mountain west.
Posted by: danny at September 29, 2007 12:39 PMColorado is threatening to knock off Oklahoma now.
I hope, I hope, I hope...
Posted by: Signal to Noise at September 29, 2007 02:05 PMFREE RALPHIE!
The Buffs just ripped Sooner sack with a last-second FG for the upset.
Posted by: Signal to Noise at September 29, 2007 02:07 PMWe know, man. Believe me.
Posted by: Holly at September 29, 2007 02:13 PMSorry, Holly. Irrational exuberance at the mighty falling.
Posted by: Signal to Noise at September 29, 2007 02:23 PMThat wasn't an earthquake, just the tectonic plates trembling at Joan's triumphant bellows.
Posted by: Holly at September 29, 2007 02:26 PMI AM SO FUCKING DRUNK RIGHT NOW
Posted by: j at September 29, 2007 02:44 PMViva La Ralphie!!!!!
Posted by: jeebsy at September 29, 2007 03:36 PMWhat the HELL ON EARTH. Cal-Oregon is finally over, and instead of cutting to MARYLAND BEATING RUTGERS, we return to Liberty Mutual Coach of The Year, already in progress.
Fuck you, Disney.
Posted by: Holly at September 29, 2007 04:24 PMAttn: Trojans
WFV and Texas have already lost this weekend. STEP IT UP, DAMMIT, I NEED THIS.
Posted by: Holly at September 29, 2007 06:30 PMWow, 18 comments and nobody has quoted the (not) late and (questionably) great CU coach Dan Hawkins?
IT'S DIVISION ONE FOOTBAW!
IT'S THE BIG TWEE-OOVE!
Stoops, go coach intramurals, brother.
Posted by: Alex at September 29, 2007 06:36 PMOne of the ESPNniks dropped a "Go play intramurals!" today. Hand to god.
P.S. THAT IS NOT BRANDON COX.
Posted by: Holly at September 29, 2007 06:38 PMThis is the greatest weekend of college football in history. I may be too drunk with beer and happiness to write the top 10 poll tonight.
Posted by: j at September 29, 2007 06:47 PMI think I might leave it till Tuesday if you need more time.
Posted by: Holly at September 29, 2007 06:48 PMI'm not the only one loving Earburn layin' the smack down on Flarda am i
Posted by: Alex at September 29, 2007 07:26 PMnevermind i just jinxed 'em
Posted by: Alex at September 29, 2007 08:04 PMNah, I'll have it up by tomorrow afternoon.
Posted by: j at September 29, 2007 08:17 PMSo does the fuck in WFV transfer to South Florida with the win? Or can I just call them South Fucking Florida anyway?
Posted by: Hank Scorpio at September 29, 2007 08:23 PMOnly if they can demonstrate a flaming couch in or around Tampa, Florida.
Posted by: Alex at September 29, 2007 08:36 PMFlorida St. has a player named Fagg. That is his actual last name, pronounced just like the gay slur. He is a man named Fagg that works and lives with football players, the most homophobic bastards in the world. I have so many questions about how that works. Like, did he have to kill somebody his first day on the team, like in prison?
Posted by: T Bag at September 29, 2007 09:52 PMI cannot wait til Tuesday for the Top 10. Now that everything else has been taken from me I need it more than ever.
I mean, I'm watching Into The Blue here.
Another game closer to my first stroke. I'm pretty sure that spotting the opposition nearly as many yards in penalties as they picked up in total offense is a bad game plan, and I hope they shred that section of the play book.
Posted by: DC Trojan at September 29, 2007 10:22 PMFor rills. Texas didn't hurt as much because I didn't get to see it, but last night was just a heartbreaker. Could not have stood for all my teams taking a hit in the same weekend.
Posted by: Holly at September 29, 2007 10:36 PMLet me take a second to ask you NEVER AGAIN to suggest that the day's slate of games is boring. We can't risk it.
Posted by: Shea at September 29, 2007 11:31 PMGameplan? Not worth it.
Posted by: R.D. Baker at September 30, 2007 09:05 AMUSC wins that game by more than a touchdown without some of the jacked-as-fuck flag throwing coming from Pac-10 refs (who had enough trouble in Cal-Oregon determining whether a field goal was good or not.)
That said -- at least Pete and the boys got out of Seattle with a win, but I don't like that offense when the Trojans go to Oregon and Cal right now.
Tuberville saved his job last night.
Posted by: Signal to Noise at September 30, 2007 09:13 AMCountdown to Brotherhood!!! Thanks again for turning me on (to the show that is, although the property of Tim Tebow pic had a nice effect as well :>P). Between that and Dexter it will be a great Sunday night. I still think The Black Donnellys was decent television, but will admit it can't compare.
