CFB 2K7: It Knows What Scares You.

It's Homecoming, and I'm far from home and chirping with sadness, and the selection of games available to me doesn't look all that interesting aside from the Saban Bowl, but the last time I almost skipped the games to go to the movies all day was Week 4, in which Louisville lost to Syracuse, Georgia Tech lost to Virginia, Florida beat Ole Miss by 6, Nebaraska was a) still ranked, and b) beat Ball State by a POINT, Michigan beat Penn State, Michigan State beat Notre Dame, our darling Terps lost to Wake by a touchdown, Georgia beat Alabama, Iowa almost beat still-ranked Wisconsin, and UCLA beat Washington, and that learned me.

Today's Special; cheering interests in bold:

    Vanderbilt @ Florida
    Navy @ Notre Dame
    Texas @ Oklahoma State
    UL-Lafayette @ Tennessee
    LSU @ Alabama
    Missouri @ Colorado
    Arizona State @ Oregon
    Oregon State @ USC
    South Carolina @ Arkansas
    Washington State @ Cal
God Bless America, except for Gainesville, Ann Arbor, and South Bend, amen.

I can't even find an obvious meteor match today.

I will pull for our boys in the service academy to enter the heart of the Papist insurgency and deliver the death blow to Jabba the Weis and his guerrillas.

LSU @ Alabama fills the meteor slot nicely.

MARYLAND @ North Carolina. Hopefully this will be a relaxing victory for the Mighty Terrapins. Hopefully they aren't looking ahead to BC.

Balls for Brains vs. Satan Himself in Tuscaloosa -- it's hard for me to wish ill on both of them. I just find them funny. For die-hards of other SEC teams, I can understand the impulse for a meteor there.

Maryland game not on the list because I can't get it on the TV. (See? Nothing interesting. Am also missing Michigan-Michigan State and FSU-BC.)

A bit off topic, but I just read your battle (with jesses commentary) on janie's site. it's 2 am in china, I want coffee and a cigarette, and I feel that I shan't sleep tonight, despite the glaring fact that I have two shows tomorrrow. This is all your fault.

...And I love you for it. Please keep making me miss home.

Even more off-topic: I saw a preview today for the big-screen adaptation of King's "The Mist", which was always my favorite short story of his. Even better, it looked like how I imagined it when I read the book.

Go Vols

Saban is a Heauxmeaux

No gay slurs here, plz, even in LSUspeek.

I love love LOVE The Mist. I have my mom's copy of Dark Forces from the 70s and the pages are about to fall out. Darabont had a shoestring budget with that one, and from everything I've heard used it to spectacular effect. That story scares the hell out of me, still. Can.Not.Wait.

Posted by: Holly at November 3, 2007 12:56 PM

Now how did I not know that Darabont was making that? Rock, crawling out from under I am, yeeesss.

I prostrate myself before you and beg your forgiveness.

Posted by: Alex at November 3, 2007 01:15 PM

(Also, I'd like to think that The Gays wouldn't take Saban if he paid them. I mean, look at his SKIN.)

Posted by: Holly at November 3, 2007 01:18 PM

Well, they took Jay.

Nothing better than watching Bill Callahan look confused on national TV after getting rung up for 76 points by Kansas.

Any preference between LSU/Alabama v. Vols in SECCG. Judging by the rooting interest would seem to be LSU, or is that just 'Bama hate?

Posted by: marcillac at November 3, 2007 02:56 PM

Bama hate and the fact that we don't play LSU this year. And I haven't seen anything since the Georgia game to indicate we'll be in ATL in December. I'll be floored if we make it through Arkansas, Vandy, and Kentucky with even one more loss.

Posted by: Holly at November 3, 2007 02:59 PM

I like watching Alabama go down currently, but if the Vols make it to Atlanta I'd rather play Bama again, because surely the Vols would chose to cover #22 this time......right?

Right??

And there's no excuse for not being "up" the rest of the way, as they are all equally critical. I look forward to being in Neyland next week.

The Vols haven't seemed to look the part most of the year but 2 home games, Kentucky looking kinda sketchy. At the moment the interesting question is if Les has fired up his kitties a hint to excess and if they'll be able to book tickets to Atlanta.

GO NAVY! Cheeseburger Charlie has got to be the worst coach in the world. He went for it on 4th and 8 when a 30yd field goal would have put them ahead. What a moron. He's going to be doing some emotional eating tonight.

Tennessee leading 59-7, heartbreaking defeat for the Irish, and Michigan State playing it close. In this moment, life is good.
