I work with geniuses.

This is roughly half the population of our office, with some time to kill:

The House of Mirth: 2.0

Other than Soulja Boy this is the greatest YouTube Video I've seen all year.

1. My father in law teaches poetry at Michigan and has been known to use the Bone Thugs oeuvre in years past in his seminars.

2. My father in law actually accosted a member of said rap collective in Cleveland - outside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, no less - to take a picture of him by his Bone Thugs custom van. Now that's gangsta.

3. I can in a pinch manage to get out the first verse of Bring the Noise by Public Enemy or It Takes Two by Rob Base (because I'm old school like that) but you don't see me putting it on YouTube. Largely because it sounds ridiculous. Did nobody tell these people?

Ridiculously awesome, you mean.

Dammit, this brings back memories of when I remembered all the lyrics to this song.

Your office consists of very funny people.

I think it's funny that the nerdy little white guy was actually the best rapper out of the group.

Funny? What? Of course he got flow. Nerdy little white guys who got the skills 2 pay the bills* represent! Nerdcore 4 lyfe!

*By which I mean LAMP & AJAX. Or video editing. Whatever.

Ridiculously awesome, indeed. I think they're all awesome in their own way, whether it be their admirable grasp for tonality or their commitment to their role. The whole is truly greater than the sum of its parts... and I'm going to watch it again now.
Don't hate, celebrate.

Truly a savory morsel. My favorite parts are when your co-workers visibly access the parts of their memory where the words are stored. Well done, indeed.

Jeebus & Stella: "ridiculous" applied primarily to how I would sound attempting something similar - it's not a white thing, it's an accent thing. Less "geezers need excitement" and more "abortive Monty Python sketch."

Well, I'm going to the boonies for Thanksgiving and I didn't get my rankings this week. My heart is broken.

Posted by: T Bag at November 21, 2007 12:50 PM

They're coming. I swear. I've been in the boonies myself all week sans Photoshop.

Posted by: Holly at November 21, 2007 12:51 PM

Awesome. Don't forget the Lou Holtz head. Laters!

Posted by: T Bag at November 21, 2007 01:38 PM

DC Trojan: Mike Skinner would like a word with you.

Posted by: jeebsy at November 21, 2007 02:33 PM

Thank you, that just made my night.
