I can't tell you to die in a fire since my Momma's going to read this....but I can ask nicely.

Sentiments for John Adams are well-known around here, but he's rrrrrreally outdone himself this time. He's advocating, among other atrocities, the discontinuation of a yearly Third Saturday in October contest because he thinks our schedule is TOO HARD.

In the most disappointing of seasons, we could always take pride in the fact that Tennessee scheduled like men, competing against the best even when it didn't shake out in our favor. In defeat, we were losing to the finest teams we could find to play; in victory we were assured by the scoreboard we could take on all comers. Adams is demonstrating--what?--that he's abandoned hope? That he'd rather give the appearance of quality football by having us schedule gladiator games against Tennessee-Martin? Just so we're clear, the sports editor of the school's hometown paper is raising a white flag as the rest of us prepare to give our full-throated support to a new OC and a new quarterback. Get bent, sir.

Why does John Adams hate America?

YES!!!! Sean and I were talking about this at breakfast!! He seriously needs to go. Why does he still have a job if all does is hate Tennessee football?

Is this the same individual that you were rude to in a bar in Knoxville?

No, that was one of his columnists.

Just realized that I didn't narrow the field very much - more specifically, the one to whom you handed the News Sentinel with the warning that it was total crap?

Although if you recall the radio show where I told that story--I was relating the incident to Daddy and told him if it was John Adams I would've gone over the bar.

Damn, I type like Joe Paterno at an AARP swingers convention - forgot the details on the first try, very slow on the second effort.

Recall the radio show? That beguiling accent and the deathless phrase "hate him in the face"? How could I forget?

(Aside from the minor details of who the hatee was, of course.)
