I'm having my first issue with the new MBP, and it's not easy finding help for it because I don't know how to describe it. For the past week or so, when I wake it from sleep mode, I get this:
Sometimes it's this white screen, and sometimes it's all gray with colored pixels, like the bar at the top of this picture. It doesn't appear to be a physical issue with the screen because I can still see mouse movements with perfect clarity, whether it's the pointer or the spinny wheel. And when I hit a hot corner, I can see shapes moving underneath. It's fine upon restart, but I take this thing everywhere and sleep mode is essential for travel. I'm not having the best luck in forums because I don't really know how to describe the screen above to find a thread that might have an answer for me. I do see that many users are experiencing blank screens when emerging from sleep mode, but nothing like what I'm seeing. It might be an NVIDIA issue; my graphics card is among a batch that's rumored to be all going up in smoke, but until I can figure out what's actually happening here I don't imagine I'll get very far.Posted by Nastinchka at July 24, 2008 12:56 PM
Did you try zapping the NVRAM?
Posted by: LineNoise at July 24, 2008 01:06 PMI've actually never tried that with this machine, but I suppose it couldn't hurt once I'm done with my work for the day.
Posted by: Holly at July 24, 2008 01:39 PMTry it. Its ridiculous what it will fix sometimes. I've seen it correct both video and sound problems.
