What's wrong with this picture?

I'm on hold with Time Warner right now, because neither of the two operators I've been transferred to has ever heard of ESPN GamePlan. A week before football season. So I hopped over to their website.

A week before football season. I'm trying to give them money. Why doesn't Time Warner SoCal want my money?

Two years ago one of their phone jockeys told me that gameplan wasn't available in Los Angeles. She said it had been decided to not offer it in that market.

Love it. The first two I talked to were dudes and both thought it was a channel, not a package. The next two were chicks, one of whom could find no reference to it anywhere in the system, one of whom said yes, they offer it, but it won't be available to order until Labor Day. On the phone with #5 now, who is off talking to a supervisor.

These are the same people who told me last year that, yes, internet and phone service is available at your location, so lets set up a time for them to install the phone. Then they didn't show up. When I called, they informed me that, oh, the installation was canceled because the service isn't available at your location. And as a bonus, they ported my phone number into oblivion.

In a properly ordered society, working for a cable company would be viewed as an admission that one is a complete muppet and should be offshored to west Africa along with our toxic waste.

I had the opposite problem a couple of years ago - Comcast went from selling individual games or the season package to season-only, but if you called for a single game, they would happily bill you for the package. I'd write more about the experience, but blood just started seeping out of my right eye thinking about it, and I don't want to stain my shirt.
